As a basis for this mandala I chose the colours that represent energy,
because these energies correspond with the development of a company:
Red: vitality
Orange: germination, creativity, enthusiasm
Yellow: design, use of experience
Green: love of the job, surrender
Blue: communication, inspiration
Indigo: intuition, manifestation, perception, responsibility
Purple : accomplishment, deepening of insight, moving on to a higher level
The yin-yang sign represents the male and the female sides of the company:
on the one hand the business side and the incorporation of knowledge,
and on the other hand the creative, intuitive side and surrender to the
process. The swimbladder motif points to the Domkerk in Utrecht where
I sing in the choir, my other great hobby.
The name Adinda means “elder daughter”. I chose this name
because I have always thought it was the most beautiful name for a girl.
I myself am the elder daughter and because I have only sons, you could
call my company my elder daughter. I have drawn the goddess Athena in
the mandala (one of her symbols is the owl) because she is herself also
a daughter (of Zeus) and goddess of wisdom and art. A mandala is an artistic
transformation of knowledge about chakras, numerology, dynamics, symbolism,
chromatics (theory of colour) and therefore is a combination of wisdom
and art.
Athena has the ability to elucidate, to clarify, which is also the purpose
of a mandala – to clarify your inner self by means of an illustration.
Behind the owl a moon is drawn of which the dark and the light side are
equally visible. I believe that the dark side as well as the light side
of human beings need to be examined and known. We are inclined not to
look at our dark side and to hide it, but then it will emerge uncontrolled.
In my view it is better to examine that side and to accept it in order
to control it, and so create a balance between light and dark.
Lastly I drew a pentagram to symbolise the monetary aspect of my drawing
mandalas.
